Part 1. General Description, Instructions, Conditions & Event Rules
Note: Be Sure that you fill out, sign and return this registration form to the above address with
the $5.00 registration fee prior to attending the event. Please include all pages. If you do not
"Pre~Register" there is a fee of $8.00 at the Event for on site Registration during this Event. You
will also be issued a one of-a-kind registration token provided by the New Mexico Civil War
Commemorative Congress ("Congress"). The tokens are designed specific to each Event and are
of excellent quality. They are issued only to registered participants and will be given out at the
registration booth following verification of the fee having been paid by the individual. The token is
then utilized by Command Staff Camp Commanders, the Provost, and Company Commanders to
verify that the individual is a registered participant, thus allowing access to the Event's associated
activities. The intent of the fee is to cover basic amenities including wood straw, and some limited
powder reimbursement to participating military units.
Congress is a non-profit host of "fellow" reenactors. The Glorieta Event Site is on historic ground
and is physically a Museum dating to the early 1700s and including the Civil War period. The
Museum site hosts many active living history events and covers more than 300 acres with 70 plus
historic buildings; including two churches, farming and ranch settlement buildings, a blacksmith
shop, and a working water mill. The premises have been kept free of modernisms such as power
lines and paved roads. The Site is typically shaded in many areas by majestic trees, landscaped
with planted and plowed fields, irrigation ditches and of course a running stream, all being
surrounded by rolling hills; thus, creating a lovely sheltered environment from the modem world.
Note: Units and individuals are welcome, however, the Camps will have established Command
Structures. There will be separate Camps for military and civilian reenactors. The Camps are well
separated and at locations specified by the Museum. Be advised that there are commonly specific
limitations placed on the use of "each" Camp Site. These restrictions are known to the Camp
Commanders and all participants will adhere to these restrictions at all times, or be subject to
ejection from the event. Setup of the Camps is planned for all day & all evening of May 16, 1997.
All vehicles are to be removed to the designated parking areas as soon as your Tents and
associated campage is unloaded. No vehicles will be allowed in the camps after 8:00 a.m. on the
morning of May 17th, 1997.
Note: Period Sutlers commonly attend the event, are very welcome, and will also use this form for
registration. However, they must contact Andrew Garcia (303-344-3248) "in advance", as there
will be some coordination needed with the Museum. Period Sutlers will be located in the Civilian
Camp, and will be expected to adhere to the requirements of the Congress designated Camp
Commander.
Note: Use of Vehicles is "very restricted" & arrangements can typically be made for the larger
Sutlers to set up a day ahead of the event. Vehicles for all participants are restricted to the parking
area during the official Event Days being May 17-18, 1997. There will be no vehicles allowed in
or around the camps, or the general Museum site unless there is a credible emergency, or some
prior arrangement was worked out with Congress and the Museum. This is a U Hour Event,
Vehicles will be allowed into the camps on Sunday May 18th after 4:00 p. m. as this ends the
event & is the scheduled time for camp take downs.
Note: Attached to this packet are event location maps & Congress Safety Rules for the Event
participants.
Please enclose $5 registration ($8 at gate)
